iTunes for the Common Phone

When you first take home your fancy new cellphone that can hold endless gigs of data, run circles around the internet, and connect to the rest of the world in umpteen different ways, you’re pretty proud of yourself. But what’s this? A 99 in – ALGEBRA!? Finally, a real academic achievement! Now the celebration can really begin! Not to take anything away from the other no-doubt essential subjects our children will undoubtedly draw …

What the Computer World Needs Now

If there’s one thing humanity should have learned by now, it’s the importance of communication – of figuring out ways to make sure people understand each other. How many wars could be prevented if people in competing cultures would be able to speak each other’s language, to explain to each other their concerns and common interests? Nations, tribes, individuals, even computers – can’t we all just get along? Apparently not. War may be bad for computers and other living things, but the “authorities” have done little to prevent war …
