The Picture Game of Life

26 September 2008 No Comment

pictogameHad a hard day? Boss driving you too hard? Teachers and homework getting on your nerves? Well, relax: Life’s nothing but a game! And to prove it, there’s Pictogame, where you’re the star in a game of fun, excitement, thrills and chills!

The idea of Pictogame is to let you have a little fun with your digital photos, by creating a game which sticks an image you upload into one of over 30 games. “Creating” is actually an overly ambitious description of what you do at at Pictogame, because the games are already pre-built; all you have to do is upload a photo.

There are arcade, sports, puzzle, and other types of games you can create, and then download or send onto friends. Picture yourself or a friend in a shooting gallery, the target in the game of Sniper. Or you could turn the family into rock stars by uploading that photo from the beach and inserting it into Memory Metal. Or, get behind the wheel in Line Driver. Send them on to a friend (with them in it). Making games with Pictogram is a surprisingly addictive pastime!

If you want something more ambitious, though, you can try another photo game site, called MyGame. MyGame works the same way; you can upload photos into game templates and save or send them to friends as well. MyGame has fewer games to work with, but you can do some editing and adjusting.

But MyGame also is happy to accept games you create on your own – and will pay you when people play your game on their site! When you upload a game that’s accepted by MyGame, you partner with them, receiving money every time someone plays your game. The more they play, the more you make. MyGame has a gallery of dozens of games that anyone can play, and many of them are far more sophisticated than the tools they provide to create the photo games at their own site. But don’t think you have to be a programmer to be able to create a cool game; there are many online sites that provide you with automatic tools (such as the construction sites listed at http://tinyurl.com/2cjrkj) that let you create very sophisticated games. Creating a game and earning money – now that’s the game for me!
