If you’ve got a phone these days, you’ve got a music player. Why shlep an iPod or other MP3 player if you want to listen to music on the go?
Because you can get more music on an MP3 player than on a phone, of course. Unless you’ve got a really fancy phone with a big memory card, you’re limited to only a couple dozen songs on your device, and you’re constantly tethering your phone to your computer in order to get music on it. Conversation on typical summer day at home:
(Parent to kid:) Beach? (kid to Parent:) Not again! (P to K:) Pool? (K to P:) Been there, done that. (P to K:) Mall? (K to P:) But we’ve seen all the movies already!
Well, it was a good try. Looks like another day of TV watching and web surfing. Can’t something be done about eliminating August from the calendar – anything to get school to start sooner? The kids may waste just as much time in school as they do at home, but at ...

Elections are breaking out all over – there’s one in the U.S. next week, and now that the campaigning is over, our own politicians are busy analyzing the tactics used by Obama and McCain. It turns out that Youtube and other video sites were important forums for the candidates. Both sides produced slick-looking videos that were watched by millions, and supporters of each posted thousands of others. While any schnook can post anything on Youtube, the official videos for both campaigns were slick – just like their ...

Well, the new TV season is underway – and it’s safe to say that the new shows are about as dumb as the old ones! Now, of course I realize that some people are going to point to some example of some show that they think is intelligent and incisive.
The holidays are over, school is back in full swing. And ,with winter on the way, with its demands for sweaters, winter coats and other coverups, we can finally let ourselves go and eat all the chocolate and cake we’ve been denying ourselves all summer.
